Pint-sized ripper, Chaz Ortiz, gettin’ his sequence on in the March ‘09 issue of TransWorld Skateboarding. Check it out at your local newsstand.

Last weekend the ZY surf squad took a quick break from the Zoo team house in Hawaii to chase some monsters in NorCal. Lots of deep, heavy barrels were handled by Zoo Yorkers Will Skudin, TJ Gumiela, and Rob Brown. During the trip the crew also got to put the new ZY wrapped jet skis to good use. Under the direction of ZY surf team manager, Will Skudin, for the first-time ever the ZY surf squad is setting up shop for the winter in a team house on Oahu’s legendary North Shore. While in Hawaii, the crew will shoot photos for new print ads and magazine stories, and they’ll collect footage for the next ZY surf podcast.  Considering it’s a frigid 20 degrees in NYC today, Hawaii definitely sounds pretty killer right about now.  All photos by Rich McMullin.

New recruit to the ZY surf program, Jeremy Jonhston, is the proud receipient of an ESeMMY Award. Presented by ESM Magazine, Jeremy won “Best Performance by an East Coast Surfer.” Check out ESM’s website for the full story, or click the above image to read more.

During the Zoo Crew’s recent Arizona filming trip for “State of Mind,” ZY Officials Zered Bassett, Brandon Westgate, Chaz Ortiz and hometown hero Aaron Suski stopped by Starr Skates in Tucson to kick it with fans and sign autographs. The Starr Skates staff took good care of the crew with plenty of food and drinks, and everyone was hyped. The line was literally down the block, and some people even started lining up at 6AM!

Last weekend, ZY Official Anthony Shetler traveled to Estonia to skate in the annual Simpel Session contest. He took 7th place and here are some contest flicks shot by our homie Alexey Lapin. For more on Simpel Session, check out session.ee.  See you next year!
