On July 21st, our friends at Zipcar will launch an innovative promotional campaign that will challenge residents in all twelve of its North American markets to live a “Low-Car Diet” for 30 days. With gas prices at an all-time high and public transportation a more cost-effective, greener option, now is a good time to join the Zipcar revolution and ditch your car. To make the transition a little less painful, Zipcar will replace participants’ car keys with a complimentary transit pass, free one-year Zipcar membership, drive time credit, and NYC participants will receive a complete Zoo York skateboard and pair of kicks to help them get around the city.
The project kicks off on July 21st with a ceremonial key-drop event in NYC. On August 15th, Zipcar will hold a completion event where people can compare their car-free experiences throughout the 30-day “Low-Car Diet.”
For more info check out zipcar.com, or read a recent story about the promo on coolhunting.com.

Our bros from the upcoming documentary “Shred America” completed their mission this week after skating roughly 1,000 miles over a 35 day stretch from Chicago to NYC. Arthur, Mike, Tony and James rolled into Zoo York to hang with the crew, and this morning they got some serious shine on ABC’s Good Morning America. They’re four cool cats and we’re all super hyped on what they’ve accomplished! And after hearing all the crazy things they experienced on the road (hippie communes, backwoods strippers, late night slams, run-ins with Johnny Law, sleep deprivation, etc.), we’re just psyched they made it here in one piece. To find out more head to shredamericafilm.com. When the movie trailer drops you’ll be able to check it out right here, so stay tuned…

Having just returned from a lengthy three-week European Tour, the Zoo Crew isn’t wasting any time as they prepare to embark on the 2008 “ZOO-B-Q” Canada Tour from July 22nd–25th.
A few days before the tour officially kicks off, several ZY Officials will head to Quebec to compete in the 4th Annual Zoo York Am Getting Paid (AGP) contest which runs from July 18th–20th at Montreal’s South Parc Skatepark. AGP is widely recognized as one of today’s most prestigious international skateboarding contests for amateurs only. With a hefty prize purse of $10,000 USD up for grabs at this year’s event, all the rippers will be there including Zoo’s very own Brandon Westgate, Anthony Shetler, Matt Miller, Ron Deily, and Eli Reed.
Once Am Getting Paid is a wrap, the “ZOO-B-Q” Canada Tour will get underway. Along for the ride will be Zered Bassett, Aaron Suski, Brandon Westgate, Anthony Shetler, Chaz Ortiz, and Eli Reed, as well as ZY staff videographer RB Umali who will document all the action for Zoo’s upcoming video, “State of Mind.” Over a four-day stretch the Zoo Crew will hit a handful of Canadian cities to host demos, autograph signings and, as the name suggests, backyard-style BBQ’s with free burgers, dogs and much more.

The pride of Philly and longtime ZY Surf Official, Ben McBrien, recently interviewed himself on Robust Flavor’s blog. Check out the exclusive interview of Ben, by Ben…
