Zoo’s pint-sized shred from Chicago, Chaz Ortiz, has been absolutely killing it lately! Chaz is currently on the Zoo York flow team, but with the way he’s been handling business lately, he’ll likely climb to amateur status sooner than later. At only thirteen years old, Chaz has been blowin’ up the contest circuit and making the hearts of teenage girls flutter from coast-to-coast. Over the past few months, Chaz further stacked his resume by winning the 2007 Mountain Dew Free Flow Tour and placing 2nd in Volcom’s Damn Am contest which brought out all the rippers. He also crushed it at the final stop of the 2007 AST Dew Tour broadcast on NBC in October. He skated super smooth and consistent, with style well beyond his years, and ended up placing 6th behind Ryan Sheckler, Greg Lutzka, and other big name pros. Chaz is a super cool kid with a very bright future, and Zoo’s stoked to have him in the family.
Watch Chaz destroy it at the 2007 Dew Tour Playstation Pro in Orlando where he finished 6th - remember, this was a PRO contest with all the heavyweights on hand.

This past weekend the Zoo Crew rolled down to Houston, TX, to skate in the 11th Annual Texas Skate Jam, play some ping pong, and host an autograph signing at Kingpinz Skateshop. Led by Zoo’s TM mastermind, Seamus Deegan, ZY Officials Kevin Taylor, Forrest Kirby, Brandon Westgate, Lamare Hemmings, Ron Deily, and Chazz Ortiz were along for the ride, with all the Deep South madness documented by ZY videographer, RB Umali, and ZY photographer, Sean Cronan.
The Zoo Crew was proud to be a part of this year’s Texas Skate Jam as all proceeds from the event were once again donated to the Make-A-Wish Foundation. Over $100,000 was raised for Make-A-Wish, making it the most successful event ever. And Zoo proudly kicked down its fair share by contributing $10,000 to the cause. Not only was a boat load of cash raised for a noble organization, but the hordes of spectators at Southside Skatepark were also treated to some heated sessions in the bowl, bank to wall, and big four by pretty much all the heavyweights in skateboarding. Stay tuned for a full video wrap-up coming soon to the ZY Video Report Blog.
The day after the Texas Skate Jam, the Zoo Crew set up shop at Kingpinz for an autograph signing. The turnout was killer, and everyone in attendance left with inked ZY paraphernalia care of the Zoo Crew. Big thanks to Kingpinz and the 100+ Texans who showed up to hang with the Zoo. See y’all next year!

Now go pick up a copy and read his interview ya stink buggers..
In true Zoo York shred and destroy fashion, the ZY BMX squad rolled into Asbury Park, NJ, for the Red Bull Down & Dirty BMX contest on November 4th, and left a wake of debauchery and destruction behind. To bring some much-needed NYC flavor to Dirty Jerz, the Zoo Crew trucked in a Yellow Cab that was incorporated into the street course. However, before riders had the chance to shred it, one of Zoo’s graf artists gave it a sick custom paint job.
After the cab was dialed with a fresh new coat of Krylon, several ZY BMX Officials led by Vinnie “Calzone” Sammon gave it an authentic NYC beat down and left it for dead.
The cab was built directly into the street course, and plenty of hammers were thrown down by 30 top riders from the US and UK.
When it was all said and done, ZY awarded top finishers with cold hard cash… $11,000 to be exact. Not bad for a day’s work.
ZY BMX OFFICIALS REPPIN’ HARD IN DIRTY JERZ!
