“New York” and “Tokyo” represent two extremes. East and West; underground and mainstream; cool and cute; futurism and traditionalism…

NEW YORK-TOKYO MUSIC FESTIVAL’s mission is to evenly encompass both sides of paired extremes and spawn a new creative experience.

The Zoo York Institute is proud to announce it has teamed up with the VH1 Save The Music Foundation to celebrate the Foundation’s decade-long commitment to restoring public school instrumental music programs. Founded in 1997, VH1’s philanthropic program has raised over $40 million which has resulted in musical instruments being donated to roughly 1,500 public schools throughout 100 U.S. communities, improving the lives of more than 1 million children.

In celebration of the Foundation’s 10th anniversary and to help raise additional funds for the organization, VH1 is conducting a special online auction from September 16th – 30th. Alongside chances to “do coffee” with celebrity gossip columnist Perez Hilton, luxury box seats to a Yankees game for you and 17 of your closest friends, and VIP tickets to attend top fashion designer Nanette Lepore’s 2008 runway show in NYC, you’ll find a Zoo York complete skateboard signed by Z.Y. Officials Aaron Suski and Zered Bassett.

To preview and place a bid on this exclusive Zoo York set-up, as well as the roughly two-dozen other amazing products and services up for grabs, visit VH1 Auctions throughout the month of September.

The Zoo York Institute is proud to announce the release of two highly-anticipated new series of collaboration artist decks – Makeset and Broken Windows. The Makeset Artist Series and Broken Windows Artist Series will both hit authorized Zoo York retailers in late September.

Makeset is a design collective comprised of two Brooklyn-based artists/designers/makers - Mike Perry and Zoo’s very own in-house creative mastermind, Damien Correll. Long-time friends and regular collaborators, over the years the two have joined forces on several ‘zines, prints, and other acclaimed art projects. The tag team duo’s new series of Zoo pro models feature custom graphics that are a playful spin on NYC’s iconic landmarks, renowned architecture, and bustling neighborhoods. From Coney Island, Times Square, and the East River, to the Brooklyn Bridge, Flatiron District, and Chrysler Building, the Makeset Artist Series provides a unique visual narrative on life in the Big Apple.

The Broken Windows Artist Series is a custom creation brought to life by a covert design collective affiliated with Zoo York. Keeping it dark and gritty like New York City, the graphics on this collaborative series of pro model boards reflect the wide range of typography, graffiti, and scrawls plastered all throughout the city’s five boroughs. Cleverly designed so the graphics from one board bleed onto the next to form a complete set (aka, polyptych), the inspiration for this series was derived from a challenge to the 80’s era Broken Windows theory that was adopted by the Giuliani Administration as a way to clean up NYC streets by cracking down on graffiti, petty crime, and other forms of perceived “vandalism.”
